# The Master Key

Services can use tokens to control access to compute, storage, data, and other resources. A user may need several tokens to use these services.

A broad reserve could give users a share in many such tokens through one SRT. This is the **master-key vision**.

## One basket, many possible uses

An SRT holder can redeem for a share of the full reserve basket. The basket can reduce the work of holding each asset separately.

Obtaining one selected asset needs a separate exchange route. The proposed [Multilateral Matching Engine](https://sapio.network/docs/ccmm.md), or MME, would help with that exchange.

A route still needs enough assets available for trade. Holding SRT does not guarantee access to every service.

## Selection and exchange

Sapio addresses two different problems.

**Selection:** competition determines which eligible assets the reserve should acquire. Participants stake SAPIO, assets enter the reserve, and later performance determines stake payouts.

Whether this process chooses useful assets over many competitions remains open.

**Exchange:** users may want one asset from a basket. The proposed MME would combine the required trades into one complete basket exchange.

Its trades must succeed together. Market availability can prevent an exchange.

## Multi is a proposed broad reserve

Sapio can support separate reserves. Each reserve has its own SRT and can focus on an area such as compute, storage, or energy.

**Multi** is a proposed reserve that could hold other SRTs and assets. Its goal is broad coverage across token-based services.

The structure must avoid ownership loops. Each redemption path must eventually reach assets outside the reserve structure.

## What the vision requires

The master-key vision requires useful assets, reliable prices, working software, and available markets. Users and services must also choose to accept SRT.

The theory does not establish those outcomes. Multi and the MME remain proposals.
